Awning / Hopper

Awning windows are similar to a casement window that is turned on its side except that they have very different and special hardware. This special hardware allows the window to be hinged at the top and open towards the outside from the bottom. Awning windows can actually provide some protection from the rain in the open position just like an ‘awning’. Awning windows can be combined with Casement windows and Picture windows to create dramatic sightlines and combination windows. Hopper windows are windows somewhat similar to Awning windows yet almost the opposite. Hoppers are hinged at the bottom of the window and open up from the top falling into the inside of the home. Hoppers are commonly used in basements, and especially in places where there is minimal room for a window to project into the outside.

Bay / Bow Windows

All of these styles project into the outdoors and create additional space and dimension within your room. Every Bay or Bow is a handcrafted utilizing only the very finest raw materials. The frames of the window and also the head and seat board are constructed using only the most expensive 9 ply, Grade-A, hardwood plywood. The mullion posts between the windows in the unit are not only structural, but they are also totally filled with energy efficient die-cut EPS foam. Casement Windows

“Casement windows are revered as some of the finest in design and style.” Energy Efficiency, aesthetic beauty, security and utility are all offered with our Casement Window. These windows “crank out”, acting like a door on a hinge. Casements open outward to either the left or the right. They can be joined together(mulled), and it is not uncommon to see “double” casements, and “triple” casement combinations.

Double Hung Windows

“No window combines style and function quite like the our Double Hung.” The Double Hung is the traditional American window, and our Panorama Series Double Hung is the flagship of the Michiana’s Best Choice Windows product line. The Double Hung window consists of two “sashes”, one on top and one on the bottom…that slide up and down as well as tilt in for easy cleaning. The sliding action is made possible by stainless steel coil springs (Constant Force Balance System) which support the weight of each sash. The bottom (inside) sash is primarily used for opening the window, although the top (outside) sash can also be slid downward for ventilation. All Michiana’s Best Choice Windows Double Hung windows are custom-made to your exact needs…down to 1/16″. These windows are available with glass options which will meet rigid Energy Star requirements.

Horizontal Slider Windows

One of the most refreshing of window designs is the Horizontal Slider. Both sashes (sometimes called a vent) slide independently allowing for maximum ventilation. Horizontal Sliders come in the “2 Lite” and “3 Lite” varieties. In a 2-Lite (2 section) slider…each sash slides. In a 3-Lite Slider, the sashes on either end both slide while the center panel is stationary. When inquiring about Slider Windows, be sure to ask us about our Tilt-N-Slide option. This unique window not only operates as a Horizontal Slider, but each sash actually swings in for easy cleaning!

Tilt ‘n Slide Windows

This uniquely designed window incorporates the popular horizontal sliding, and venting features of a traditional slider window…with a twist. The panels (sometimes called sashes) of the Tilt N Slide window also swing into the home for easy cleaning and maximum ventilation. The Tilt N Slide window comes in 2 panel and 3 panel (sometimes called 2 “lite” and 3 “lite) design. With a 3 lite unit, all three panels swing in to create one large opening.
